When you divide a whole number by a decimal less than one the quotient is greater than the whole number. Why?

The smaller you divide something up into, the more "pieces" will be available. For example, it you divided 3 by 1/2. 1 is larger than 1/2, so only 3 parts can fit into 3. 1/2 is smaller, so 6 parts can fit into 3.
