The default margin size should be 1 inch or 2.54 on all sides; top, bottom, right and left. Certain government or academic entities may require their own stringent or exact margin settings that are different. These margin settings are regardless of the common A4 size paper in Europe and other parts of the world and the common "Letter size" paper in the United States of 8.5 inches by 11 inches (or 215.9 mm by 279.4 mm).
