In a typical monomeric protein, the TERTIARY STRUCTURE is most highly conserved.
The tertiary structures refer to the three dimensional structure of proteins; they are formed from the additional folding of secondary structures. The function of a protein is determined by its tertiary structure, if the structure is destroy the protein will be denatured.
