2 ( x + 1) - (-x + 5) ≤ -18

Simplify.

2x + 2 + x - 5 ≤ -18

Add like terms.

(2x + x) + (2 - 5) ≤ - 18

Simplify.

3x - 3 ≤ - 18

Add 3 to both sides.

3x ≤ -18 + 3

Simplify.

3x ≤ - 15

Divide both sides by 3.

x ≤ -5

So your answer is C) x ≤ -5
