Why is a research question that can be answered yes or no a bad research question?

A research question that can be answered by simple outputs such as "Yes" or "No" aren't typically categorized as a bad question, but they normally are because they don't force you to think about the research - "yes" and "no" questions are designed to get straight to it, while asking clarifying questions that force you to explain and show your answer and work make you think therefore increasing brain activity in the area of work.
