Nonrepresentational imagery is closely related to abstract art which is associated to Pablo Picasso. He made paintings that did not rely on what you can clearly see in the painting because the images in the paintings do not make any sense if taken directly. The paintings are a representation of things that can only be understood if a certain level of analysis and reflection was done.
