How many positions in the executive branch are appointed by the president?

Technically there are 1300 positions in the executive branch that can be appointed by the President. Most famously are the 15 Secretaries of the Departments. His/Her cabinet. I believe President Trump has 22? So it kind of depends on what the President wants.
