Commission = 6% of sales

" 6% " means  0.06
" of " means "times"

Commission = (0.06) x (sales)

    $300  =  (0.06) x (sales)

Divide each side by  0.06 :   $300 / 0.06  =  sales

                                               $5,000  =  sales
