Actually I have no clue maybe because they arent smart or wasn't thinking straight at the time.

2 + 2 = 4

2 + 2 = 5 is simply impossible and illogical!!

Perhaps maybe if it were part of a bigger & more complex equation and somehow 2 = 3, THEN it would make sense.
