5x + 20 = 70
        5x = 70 - 20
        5x = 50
          x = 50/5
          x = 10

5(10) + 20 = 70
     50 + 20 = 70
              70 = 70

1st minus from 20. that cancels out. Then put it on the other side so it looks like 5x=70-20. simplify. 5x=50. next, divide by 5. 50/5=10. so x=10
