The total they paid is $23 because 1 of them bought 4 cookies for $2 each so we multiply 4 and 2 we will get $8 and the other girl bought 5 cookies for $3 each so we multiply 5 and 3 and that is $15 so we add $15 and $8 and we will end up with $23
