M= (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

Or in other words the change in y over the change in x.

M= (9+6)/(3-8) = 15/-5 = -3.

(sidenote: I added 9 and 6 for the change in y because you cannot subtract a negative number. Instead you have to add it.)
