A direct result of Rosa Park's refusal to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus in 1955 was the Montgomery Bus Boycott. On December 1, 1955, four days before the boycottbegan, Rosa Parks, an African-American woman, refused to yield her seat to a white man on a Montgomery bus.
