Carol has 10 cups of sugar to make 7 dozen cookies. If she only had 6 cups of sugar, how many cookies could she make ?

10/7 = 6/x  cross multiply to solve for x

x=4.2 dozen cookies 

4.2 dozen cookies * 12 cookies/dozen= 50.4 cookies
