You use the slope formula:

m = [tex]\frac{y_{2}-y_{1} }{x_{2}-x_{1}}[/tex]

m is the slope. Plug in the points.

m = [tex]\frac{-7 - 3}{4 - (-1)}[/tex]

m = [tex]\frac{-7 - 3}{4+1}[/tex]

m = [tex]\frac{-10}{5}[/tex]

m = -2
