We'll assume that a is the dependent variable, dependent on b,

and that b is the independent variable.

Solving for a, add 7 to both sides:

a = g(b) = 7 + 3(b+2), or

     g(b) = 7 + 3b + 6, or

     g(b) = 3b + 13
