An ordered pair is a solution of an equation if, once you plug the x,y coordinates of the pair in the equation, you have an identity (i.e., left and right sides are the same)

If we plug in (-2,13), we have

[tex] y=-6x+1 \iff 13 = -6\cdot(-2)+1 = 12+1 = 13 [/tex]

So, this point is indeed a solution of the equation. Let's do the same for (-1,7):

[tex] y=-6x+1 \iff 7 = -6\cdot(-1)+1 = 6+1=7 [/tex]

So this point is a solution as well. Both points are solutions.
