AB is a transversal to parallel lines AD and BC, so the corresponding and alternating angles are congruent and the other pairs are supplementary, adding to 180 degrees.

Here we have A and B are supplementary,

A + B = 180 degrees

(4x - 4) + 116 = 180

4x = 180 - 116 + 4 = 68

x = 68/4 = 17

In this parallelogram, angles A and B add up to 180 (they are supplementary). Set up an equation like this:

4x - 4 + 116 = 180

4x + 112 = 180

4x = 68

x = 17

The measure of x is 17°.
